Eden Dock, Canary Wharf, London

As part of the Eden Dock project at Canary Wharf, a range of underwater habitat features were installed to complement the extensive floating wetlands that form the main park ecology. These include Biohuts from Ecocean, together with Shelter Shells suspended from pontoon boardwalks and beneath floating wetlands. By positioning habitat structures at different depths — from bottom-mounted Biohuts to suspended Shelter Shells — the project creates a three-dimensional underwater habitat network within the dock. The Shelter Shells are being colonised by freshwater sponges and aquatic invertebrates. An underwater camera and public display allows visitors to observe this normally hidden ecology, connecting the underwater habitat with the public experience of the park.
